Making his return to the PBA with a second stint with Phoenix, RR Garcia’s career has come full circle pretty much.
Garcia was a Fuel Master when the Phoenix franchise name first came into the league. Now playing under Louie Alas, RR is finally with the coach that he could have played for in college.
Alas revealed that Garcia tried out for Letran back when he was coach for the Knights. When that didn’t pan out, RR instead went to FEU and won an MVP for the Tamaraws.
“Matagal ko na siyang gustong player. History niyan is sakin nag-tryout yan sa Letran before napunta sa FEU,” Alas said after Garcia nailed a game-winner for Phoenix in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup Wednesday.
With Garcia only six games into his PBA return, it’s only natural for him to go through a mini adjustment period.
But with 14 points and a game-winner for the undermanned Fuel Masters, it seems like he’s coming along pretty well. It helps that Alas has full confidence in RR.
Kailangan lang bumalik 'yung kumpiyansa niya,” Alas said.
This is not a sprint, sabi ko marathon to,” he added.
