PBA: Northport arrests 4-game slide with tough win over Phoenix

In a gritty showdown Saturday, it’s Northport that comes out on top for a much-needed win.
The Batang Pier snapped their skid in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup, pounding on Phoenix at the Big Dome, 80-70.
Losers of four straight coming in, Northport finally got that elusive second win for a 2-4 mark. The Fuel Masters remain stuck at two wins as well and their chance for a winning streak faded away, going down to 2-5 in the team standings.
Northport gave up a big run late in the third but recovered in time to finally pull away from the Fuel Masters in the fourth.
Mo Tautuaa led the way with 16 points for the Batang Pier while Paolo Taha added 14. Import Mychal Ammons was good for 12 points.
For Phoenix, Alex Mallari scored 15 and Eugene Phelps finished with 14 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists.
