To say that the one-on-one swap between Christian Standhardinger and Mo Tautuaa was surprising would be an understatement.
To start the week in the PBA, San Miguel Beer and Northport traded two former first overall draft picks in an exchange that shook up the entire league.
The trade came out of nowhere on a random Monday and Standhardinger’s now former teammates at San Miguel were taken off guard.
“No one knew anything,” guard Chris Ross said.
“I see it on Twitter. It was the first tweet that popped up. I was mad, man. Obviously, no one on the team knew because our group chat had no messages or no nothing,” he added.
Despite not being teammates anymore, Ross assures that his friendship with Standhardinger will carry on.
Now opponents, Ross is excited to go at it against Standhardinger on the court. In a twist of fate, Northport’s first game with Christian will be against San Miguel next week.
“We’re going to continue to be friends. Just because you got traded doesn’t mean we stop being brothers,” Ross said of Standhardinger.
“I think we have to play them next week also. It will be fun,” he added.
