Columbian is making a serious play for the playoffs in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
The Dyip arrested a two-game slide Friday against Phoenix, improving to 4-4 in the team standings
By making it back to .500 basketball, Columbian also took control of 6th place in the 12-team field.
“This time, we had to win,” head coach Johnedel Cardel.
“If we lose this game, lalayo kami. Masyado kami mababaon sa ilalim,” he added.
In the win against Phoenix, Columbian got a solid team-effort. Import Khapri Alston and no. 1 pick CJ Perez led the way by combining for 55 points.
Jackson Corpuz and Rashawn McCarthy also provided solid local support for the Dyip.
“We talked about yung mga problems, mga issues. Sabi ko it’s all part of the game. We had to challenge it. The way we stop those issues is to win this game,” Cardel said.
“So nangyari naman, CJ played better, Jack played better. Everyone played better,” he added.
