NLEX is rolling right now in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
After a big win over TNT Friday, the Road Warriors are in solo second with a near-perfect 6-1 record, just half a game behind the KaTropa for pole position.
The offense is rolling as NLEX is second in scoring and assists, just behind TNT and Brgy. Ginebra respectiely. The Road Warriors barely trail the KaTropa in total 3-point percentage but they lead the league in total three-point makes.
NLEX’s dominant offense can be attributed in large part to the play of Kiefer Ravena at point guard.
Ravena’s return to the PBA has been near flawless, going for 17.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 9.7 assists.
Kiefer is the top local in assists and is second overall just behind Justin Brownlee. He has a career-high 17 assists this conference and in the win against the KaTropa, Ravena dished out 13 dimes.
“Well, dribble kasi ako ng dribble eh, tsaka bwakaw ako so kaya tumataas yung assists ko,” Ravena said, taking shots at his detractors pretty much.
“Hindi ko alam, butt I’m trying to dish out more assists. Hopefully tumaas pa siya para maganda tinatakbo ng team,” he added.
The Road Warriors have been racking up victories with high numbers in three-point shots made and assists dished out.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
“We had 30 assists tonight, and yun panalo so kami actually conscious na kami about that stat,” Kiefer said.
“Kasi kung titignan mo, anim na panalo, matataas assist rates eh so wala ka nang hihingin pa. Hopefully, we still continue to dish out the ball well, that’s want thing we have to remain consistent,” he added.
