Allein Maliksi is one of the few active PBA players with a Grand Slam championship.
Maliksi did so in 2014 when San Mig Coffee swept the whole season.
After his stint with the Purefoods franchise, Maliksi was traded for Blackwater and the Elite only reached the playoffs twice while he was there.
Now, Allein has been traded again, this time to Meralco, and Maliksi wants to have a chance to rediscover that championship feeling with the Bolts.
“Dito sa Meralco, gusto ko makapag-champion ulit katulad nung nasa Purefoods ako,” Maliksi said after his debut game with the Bolts Sunday in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
He scored 12 points in Meralco’s big win over San Miguel Beer.
“Hopefully mabalik ko uli yung game ko na nawala nung nasa Purefoods ako kasi medyo nag-struggle din talaga ako when I was with Blackwater. Yun focus ko right now, mag-improve ulit yung game ko,” Allein added.
One game in, Maliksi already feels right at home with Meralco.
He’s teammates with a few familiar faces with the Bolts now and he hopes to help the team continue with their strong start to the conference so far.
Meralco is solo third with a 5-2 record.
“Sobrang okay naman lahat. Si Nards [Pinto] nakasama ko uli. Nakasama ko sa Gilas si Baser [Amer]. So madali silang maka-jell,” Maliksi said.
“Chemistry na lang din siguro, and okay naman yung performance namin today,” he added.
