Manny Harris had perhaps the most quiet triple-double by an import in the PBA this season.
In leading the NLEX Road Warriors to another victory in the 2019 Governors’ Cup, this time against Rain or Shine, Harris had himself a nice line of 29 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.
Told by his coach that he doesn’t have to keep scoring in the 40s to win, Harris promptly found a way to adjust his game all while still delivering a victory.
“[Coach Yeng Guiao] let me know I don’t have to score 40 every game,” Harris said.
“I jsut try to do whatever to help the team win. I saw the defense on me, meaning other guys were open, so I just try to get them the ball,” he added.
NLEX is on a three-game run with Harris as import and the Road Warriors are on a four-game winning streak overall for a league-best 7-1 record.
Regaining first place is nice on the part of NLEX but there’s still more to do says Harris.
“I know we’re all aware that if we won this game we will be number one but we’re still all aware that we have to hold the position and still continue to get better and play hard,” he said.
“We’re number one now but that don’t mean anything,” Harris added.
