Chris Banchero debuted for defending champion Magnolia Wednesday in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
In the win against Phoenix, Banchero was pretty solid, finishing with 10 points to go along with five rebounds and three assists.
While that’s nice and all, Banchero should be even more productive as the Hotshots gear up for the rest of their title defense.
Head coach Chito Victolero is sure of that.
“Kaya ko yan kinuha dahil tinawag akong Coach Banchero eh. Kaya yun ang susi doon,” Victolero joked as he started to talk about his team’s latest weapon.
“Pero kidding aside, very happy with Chris. Marami pa yan. Dalang beses pa lang siya naka-practice samin and nangangapa pa yung bata,” he added.
Coming over from Alaska, Victolero likes what Banchero has to offer for Magnolia.
At the very least, the former Ace is a new pair of legs the Hotshots could use to keep up their vaunted three-guard set up to win games.
“Maganda yung binibigay niya samin. Yung hustle niya, yung energy, yung kanyang push sa bola, at depensa,” Victolero said on Banchero.
“Sabi ko nga, fresh legs para sa bench namin and maganda, yung fourth uarter namin sobrang solid kasi halos lahat, fresh legs. Importante yung samin,” he added.
