Ginebra holds on for a crucial win in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
The Gin Kings withstood a late TNT rally Friday, pulling off a pulsating 96-93 win at the Big Dome.
Losing a 10-point lead late, the Gin Kings turned to Stanley Pringle to break a 92-all tie with a big layup over TNT import KJ McDaniels.
McDaniels then split his free throws on the other end and Justin Brownlee put Ginebra up three from the line with five seconds to go. Ray Parks, playing his first game for the KaTropa, missed a long three at the buzzer that would have forced overtime.
Ginebra rised to 6-3 in the team standings while TNT dropped to 7-2 following back-to-back losses, making the top-4 race more complicated as the elimination round wraps up.
The Gin Kings were led by Japeth Aguilar, who dominated inside for 29 points, missing only three shots.
Import Justin Brownlee scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half while LA Tenorio added another 19 points for Ginebra in the win.
KJ McDaniels scored 32 poits but his missed free throw late, his only miss in seven tries, was crucial. RR Pogoy fired five triples on his way to 23 points.
Parks Jr. finished his TNT debut with 17 points.
