PBA: Healthy Almazan a big blessing for Meralco
In the win against Columbian Friday, Almazan was a beast with 18 points anda career-high 24 rebounds.

Raymond Almazan solves a lot of Meralco’s problems and with him finally healthy in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup, the Bolts are getting major return of investment from their big mid-season acquisition.

In the win against Columbian Friday, Almazan was a beast with 18 points anda career-high 24 rebounds.

Meralco is 7-2 for the conference with an inside track for a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.

“He’s been a blessing, there’s no doubt about that,” head coach Norman Black said of Almazan.

“We got him in the second conference and we received him with an injury already. Took him a little while to recover from that injury. Now he's healthy and he knows the system already, and he's quite comfortable with his teammates. He's been doing a great job for us manning the paint,” he added.

Almazan’s impact has been highlighted alongside import Allen Durham.

Meralco has been a contender in the PBA everytime Durham is in town. And with Almazan, the Bolts have opened things up more for their two-time Best Import to dominate.

“He [Almazan] makes a big difference as far as Allen Durham’s game in concerned,” Coach Norman said.

“He [Raymond] takes a lot of pressure inside the paint,” Black added.
