Meralco will be coming off a loss when it enters the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup playoffs.
Its last game against Rain or Shine also left some things to be desired as impot Allen Durham and Raymond Almazan fumbled a final play off that would have forced overtime.
Still, a loss might not be as bad as everyone thinks for Meralco. The Bolts were on a five-game winning streak and a reality check now could be a nice spark.
“Last play, breaks of the game eh. May timeout pa kami na isa... it happens. No bearing game samin, pero gusto ko pa rin manalo,” Almazan said.
“We need to learn from it na lang siguro. Tsaka okay na matalo before coming to the playoffs. May twice-to-beat kami, at least hindi kami magre-realx and ready kami in every game,” he added.
Despite the loss and the fumbled final play, Almazan still had a strong game for Meralco.
He barely missed a 20-20 performance, instead going for 18 points and 19 rebounds.
“Almost there na naman. It will come,” he said on a 20-20 game.
“Tsaka lagi ko sinasabi, basta para sa team na makaka-tulong, I’m willing to do it,” he added.
