Way to pick up a win for Rain or Shine.

The Elasto Painters upset Meralco Sunday at the Big Dome, winning a close 83-81 decision in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.

ROS avoided outright elimination, but at 4-7, the Elasto Painters are in a waiting game to see if they can get a playoff to get into the quarterfinals.

Up two, ROS forced a turnover on rookie Bong Quinto. Meralco import Allen Durham gave his team another chance, coming up with a block and driving all the way for a chance at overtime.

However, Durham and a trailing Raymond Almazan failed to connect as time expired for the ROS win.

Rich Ross led the way for the Elasto Painters with 26 points while Rey Nambatac added 24. The two did most of the heavy lifting as ROS outscored Meralco in the fourth by 11, 23-12, to take te victory.

Durham scored 23 for the Bolts while Almazan and Baser Amer added 18 each. 

Meralco’s five-game winning streak ended with the loss but at 8-3, the Bolts still enter the quarterfinals with a twice-to-beat edge.

Rain or Shine 83 - Ross 26, Nambatac 24, Exciminiano 8, Borboran 4, Ponferada 4, Mocon 4, Norwood 4, Rosales 3, Torres 3, Belga 3, Daquioag 0.

Meralco 81 - Durham 23, Amer 18, Almazan 18, Newsome 12, Quinto 6, Pinto 2, Caram 2, Faundo 0, Hodge 0, Salva 0.

Quarterscores: 23-21, 41-42, 60-69, 83-81.
