It sure looked like Magnolia had TNT’s number.
After dominating the KaTropa for a win just a week prior, the Hotshots had TNT on the ropes in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals Monday.
Magnolia was up 18 in the second half and the defending champs were on their way to force a knockout game for the semifinals.
However, the KaTropa mounted a huge rally and thanks to multiple clutch hits from Jayson Castro, Troy Rosario, Ray Parks, and import KJ McDaniels, TNT was able to push through and eliminate Magnolia in a thriller.
“They had our confidence shook for a minute,” said McDaniels.
“But you know, we just have to stay together throughout the ups and downs and that’s what we did,” he added.
After a late slump where they lost three straight games, the KaTropa have now won back-to-back close games against San Miguel Beer and Magnolia to barge into the next round.
It appears TNT's confidence that allowed the team to zoom to a 7-0 start is back.
“We have confidence in each other,” McDaniels said.
“We have to continue having that in each other throughout the rest of the games, just staying positive throughout the wins and losses. When we have breakdowns, we just have to bounce back. That’s what we did,” he added.
