After failing to advance in the Commissioner’s Cup, Northport has scrapped its way on the brink of a breakthrough in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
After pounding on NLEX for the second time in three games, the no. 8 Batang Pier are close to eliminating the top-ranked Road Warriors from the playoffs.
One more win and Northport finally gets to return to the PBA semifinals.
“We just came out strong, aggressive, full of energy. Yun lang,” head coach Pido Jarencio said.
“Ayaw mag-bakasyon ng mga players. They want to be in the playoffs, sa semis. Wala pa, hindi pa naman tapos eh. First half pa lang. Yung second half, sa Wednesday, okay?” he added.
NLEX gets another chance by virtue of its twice-to-beat advantage and the knockout game against Northport is set Wednesday back at the Big Dome.
The Batang Pier knew what that got themselves into and now they’re determined to finish the job.
Northport finally has an actual chance.
“Yung goal is to be in the semis. After the semis, tingnan natin kung paano tayo,” Jarencio said.
“At least even na, 1-1. I'm so happy na we came out aggressive, full-force talaga,” he added.
