With a second straight game that had him not up to his usual standards, Bobby Ray Parks Jr. got a great save late as he pushed TNT to the semifinals of the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Down one to Magnolia in the quarterfinals Monday, Parks Jr. got an offensive rebound off a Jayson Castro miss and was fouled.
He drilled the two clutch free throws to push the KaTropa ahead of the Hotshots, completing an 18-point comeback for the win.
Parks Jr. finished with seven points and eight rebounds in the victory.
“Nakaka-hiya nga, pambawi ko lang yun, sama ng laro ko eh,” Parks said on his crucial free throws.
“Effort na lang. It’s the least I could do. Kuya Jayson did a great job of putting us in a position to at least try and get the win and that’s the least that we could do,” he added.
With the win, the no. 2 pick of last year’s Draft has joined TNT in its return to the semifinals of the Governors’ Cup.
Scoring a comeback win against the now-dethroned champions is a great sendoff for the KaTropa to the next round as well.
“It’s a great opportunity. TNT is such a great team,” Parks said.
“It’s a blessing. It’s a privilege for sure. It’s just a test of character. We were able to persevere through all the adversity that we had to deal with and we prevailed. It’s a great growth on our part,” he added.
