Northport’s “Magic Bunot” in Game 1 of the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals against Ginebra was Garvo Lanete.
Lanete exploded in the fourth quarter, pouring 21 of his 24 points in the last 12 minutes.
His hot shooting allowed the no. 8 Batang Pier to truly pull away from the Gin Kings, turning a 10-point lead after three into a 34-point victory and a 1-0 series lead.
“In any minutes na binbigay naman sakin, ready ako. I make the most of it.
After their classic triple-overtime win over top-ranked NLEX in the quarterfinals, Northport kept its momentum even if there was two weeks in between games.
The challenge is keeping that high-level of play.
“I think yung momentum namin nandoon pa rin. And yung pressure wala samin,” Lanete said.
“We just hope na ma-sustain yung level na nilaro namin dito sa Game 1,” he added.
