There’s not much to be said on the part of Barangay Ginebra after Game 1 of their semifinals series against Northport in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup.
The Gin Kings got dominated by no. 8 Northport, taking a 34-point beating for their worst loss this season.
Admittedly, Ginebra didn’t expect to get pounded by Northport the way their did in the series-opener
“We didn't expect na they would come out with that kind of fire. Parang relaxed kami masyado,” guard LA Tenorio said.
“Di namin inexpect na they will come really hard at us. We started flat and then from there, we gave them confidence na andun naman talaga sa kanila,” he added.
As the series shifts to Game 2 in less than 48 hours, Ginebra has no choice but to wake up.
The Gin Kings that took part from Gilas Pilipinas’ gold-medal win in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games should take the initiative to create a spark says LA.
“The players who played in the SEA Games, I think we have to start the fire sa team namin,” he said.
“Ayun yung kailangan naming gawin for the next game. We should be the one to start the fire sa team namin para mabuhat o madala yung buong team,” Tenorio added.
