RR Pogoy is back in action for TNT KaTropa in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup semifinals despite still recovering from a back injury.
Pogoy hurt his back against Magnolia in the quarterfinals and the injury caused him to lose his spat in Gilas Pilipinas for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Sunday against Meralco, Pogoy played his first game back, emerging as the top local scorer for the KaTropa in a Game 1 win over the Bolts with 18 points in a starting role.
Still, Pogoy is not exactly fully healthy just yet.
“May sakit pa, kung 1-to-10, mga 4 o 5 pero tinitiis ko lang,” Pogoy said on the level of pain he’s in.
The SEA Games break allowed Pogoy to at least get his back just good enough.
Following the win over Magnolia, the former Rookie of the Year didn’t practice for a week straight.
But as the semis grind starts, his recovery after every game now becomes a legitimate concern once again.
