Ginebra returned the favor in the 2019 PBA Governors' Cup semifinals and routed NorthPort, 113-88, Monday at Araneta Coliseum.
Without a doubt having put their Game 1 loss behind them, the Gin Kings were firing on all cylinders from the get-go en route to evening the best-of-five series at 1-all.
The crowd favorites opened their onslaught with a 31-point first quarter before dropping another 31 and 32 in the second and third periods, respectively.
The Batang Pier just could not keep up and fell victim all game long to Ginebra's overwhelming firepower.
Stanley Pringle was at the head of the attack with 23 points on top of five assists, three rebounds, and three steals while LA Tenorio had his own 20 markers and four dimes.
A total of six Gin Kings were in double-digits with Greg Slaughter also contributing 16 points and nine rebounds and Justin Brownlee chipping in a 15-marker, 10-board double-double.
This 35-point demolition job is, in head coach Tim Cone's eyes, a rightful response to the 34-point beatdown they suffered at the hands of the upstarts two days ago. As he put it, "I thought we came out and played with a lot of playoff intensity. We just didn't have that in Game 1."
The pivotal Game 3 will still tip-off at The Big Dome on Wednesday.
For NorthPort, American reinforcement Michael Qualls still had 20 points, but was clamped down all throughout and only shot 8-of-26 from the field.
