The semis of blowouts continue Wednesday.
Barangay Ginebra has officially taken over in its series against no. 8 Northport in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup, taking a convincing 132-105 victory at the Big Dome.
After a 35-point win in Game 2 to tie the best-of-5 showdown, a 27-point decision as a follow up in Game 3 puts the Gin Kings firmly in the driver’s seat without a shadow of a doubt.
Ginebra can go for the kill Friday for Game 4, still at the Araneta Coliseum.
An 8-0 run near the end of the first half allowed the Gin Kings to take a 53-40 lead.
That served as a preview of what's to come as Justin Browlee dropped 13 points in the third period, sparking a true breakaway for Ginebra. The Gin Kings led by as many as 32 points before officially taking over series lead.
Brownlee was sensational with a game-high 41 points. JB also added 11 rebounds, seven assists, three steals, and three blocks in a fine all-around performance.
Four locals finished in double figures for Ginebra, led by 18 points from Japeth Aguilar and 17 points from Jeff Chan.
Northport got 32 points from Michael Qualls and 20 points from Christian Standhardinger. However, the Batang Pier are slowly falling apart as only nine players suited up with several key guys out due to injuries.
Ginebra 132 - Brownlee 41, J. Aguilar 18, Chan 17, Pringle 14, Tenorio 11, Thompson 6, Mariano 6, R. Aguilar 5, Slaughter 4, Dillinger 2, Sargent 0, Caperal 0,
NorthPort 105 - Qualls 32, Standhardinger 20, Taha 15, Anthony 14, Lanete 8, Teodoro 8, Elorde 7, Cruz 5, King 2, Escoto 2.
