Barangay Ginebra is the first team to make the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals.
The Gin Kings finished off Northport Friday at the Big Dome, winning Game 4, 120-107.
After losing the series opener by 34 points, Ginebra rebounded with three straight wins by a combined 75 points for a 3-1 series victory.
The Gin Kings are in the Finals for the first time since the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup. They’re also in the Governors’ Cup Finals for the third time in four seasons.
Ginebra will now wait for the winner of the TNT-Meralco series. The KaTropa lead on the other side of the bracket, 2-1.
The Gin Kings had a strong start anew, leading by 11 points early behind Stanley Pringle.
After trailing by as many as 22 points late in the first half, the Batang Pier got life after Paolo Taha poured 21 points in the third but it was never really enough to get Northport real close.
In the fourth, the Gin Kings turned to LA Tenorio and Justin Brownlee for the knockout blows as Ginebra's depth proved to be just too much for the banged up Batang Pier.
Brownlee led the way with 36 points, 19 rebounds, and eight assists in another masterful effort.
Japeth Aguilar added 20 points for Ginebra while LA Tenorio and Stanley Pringle had 19 and 18 points respectively.
For Northport, Christian Standhardinger was good for 32 points and Paolo Taha recorded a career-high 29 in the loss. Import Michael Qualls wrapped up his first PBA stint with 25 markers.
Ginebra 120 - Brownlee 36, Aguilar 20, Tenorio 19, Pringle 18, Thompson 14, Slaughter 6, Mariano 4, Chan 3, Dillinger 0.
NorthPort 107 - Standhardinger 32, Taha 29, Qualls 25, Anthony 18, Lanete 2, Elorde 1, Cruz 0, King 0, Escoto 0.
