In getting another shot at Barangay Ginebra for the PBA Governors’ Cup title, Meralco received a big-time Christmas present.
And after two failed attempts, the Bolts are raring to make sure third time is the charm.
“We all feel like we have some unfinished business. We've already had two rounds with Ginebra and we've lost both,” head coach Norman Black on the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup Finals against Barangay Ginebra after the Christmas break.
The Bolts lost in 2016 and 2017 in six and seven games respectively.
“We're looking forward to the third round because we wanna change things around and come out the victors this time. That's gonna be our focus now,” coach Norman added.
Hunger for a championship will not be a question for Meralco, and for Ginebra for that matter.
On the part of the Bolts, two failed title bids are enough. There is only one goal for this team and that’s to take the title for themselves.
“Our goal is to win a championship. We have a lot of respect for Ginebra and Tim Cone. Tim is a top coach in the league. But our goal is to win. Simple as that,” coach Norman said.
“It doesn't matter who we're playing against. Our goal is to win a championship. We've already lost two. We only have one goal,” he added.
