It's official: June Mar Fajardo will miss San Miguel Beer's quest for a 6th straight Philippine Cup title when the PBA opens for a 45th season next month.

In an official statement, San Miguel Corporation announced that Fajardo suffered a complete fracture on his right tibia.

June Mar suffered the injury during practice Monday, February 3. The league's reigning five-time Most Valuable Player was immediately brought to the hospital for initial treatment.

By February 4, Tuesday, Fajardo underwent succesful surgery.

"The San Miguel Beermen management is committed to ensuring that June Mar will get the best medical care, and would like to thank fans for the messages of concern and well wishes," the team said in its statement.

June Mar's timetable for recovery is currently unknown but he's officially out indefinitely.

The Beermen will open the season on March 1 with a Finals rematch against Magnolia.

Fajardo averaged 18.87 points and 13.0 rebounds last season, leading San Miguel to two titles. He is on track for a 6th straight MVP award.
