Magnolia's quest for the PBA Philippine Cup is underway.

The Hotshots, who made the All-Filipino Finals in each of the last two seasons, got a nice tune-up game win over Rain or Shine Wednesday.

In a rematch of last season's Philippine Cup semis that went a full seven games, Magnolia came out on top against ROS, 90-72.

The Elasto Painters started the fourth with a 10-2 run to cut the deficit to two but Magnolia recovered behind star guards Paul Lee, Chris Banchero, and Jio Jalalon.

All teams are gearing up for the PBA's 45th season, which will start with the Philippine Cup on March 1 at the Big Dome.

Magnolia will play in the first game, taking on five-time defending champion San Miguel Beer.
