For the second straight year, the Philippine Basketball Association held a Media Day to precede the league's opening ceremony.
For the second straight year, the PBA Media Day was a huge success.
All 12 teams were represented Thursday for the Media Day at Okada Manila.
"Successful na naman yung Media Day natin. Ito nga yung jumpstart and primer natin para sa opening," PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial told this writer.
"Ito yung balik namin sa media, pinapakita lang namin yung appreciation na ginagawa niyo samin, yung suporta niyo samin," he added.
For the second-ever Media Day, Marcial noted that coaches and players were more relaxed now compared to last year.
In 2019, the first-ever PBA Media Day was held at Solaire.
"Yung first time, medyo stiff pa sila. Ngayon parang mas relaxed na sila. Ang saya," Marcial said.
"At sinasabi ng coaches and players na gusto nila to, di ba? Okay satin to," he added.
The PBA was set to open a 45th season on March 1, that has since been moved to March 8 but despite being a week delayed, the league is all systems go.
"Derecho tayo. May Leo Awards tayo, may opening tayo, may konting tribue kay Kobe. Derecho tayo, kung ano yung nawala nung March 1, ganun pa rin sa March 8," the league head said.
