Much like on-court performances, some PBA personalities are just better than others when it comes to how they address and carry themselves with the media.
Each year, the PBA Press Corps fills out the All-Interview Team, PBA personalities who consistently give out quotable quotes.
More than the soundbytes however, winners of the All-Interview team are five players and a head coach that always take time out of their busy schedule to make themselves available for the Press Corps.
Vic Manuel is the second member of the 2019 PBA All-Interview team. Here are some of the Muscle Man's best from last season.
“Jokic grabe naman yun, chubby yun eh."
Coach Tim Cone said that Vic Manuel would be a weapoin in the ASEAN level, and he was right.
The Muscle Man led Gilas Pilipinas in scoring for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Former Gilas coach and current Indonesia mentor Rajko Toroman pretty much agreed with Cone, going so far as comparing Manuel to a certian Denver Nuggets center.
Once Manuel found out about the comparison, he burst into laughter and jokingly dismissed it as he delivered his golden line.
“Sayang naman, libre."
Late in the 2019 PBA Governors' Cup, Manuel suddenly showed up for one of Alaska's games with a new golden hairdo.
The new golden boy's reason for a new hairstyle was simply both funny and just plain impulsive.
Basically, Vic had a friend who opened a milk tea shop. A milk tea shop that also happened to have a parlor.
"Na-tripan ko lang. Sayang naman, libre. Nagpa-kulay na rin ako."
Way to go, Vic.
"Sumobra ata minutes ko ngayon...para daw akong hingal kabayo."
Manuel spent most of the 2019 season trying to get back to his former self after dealing with injuries and long recovery times.
When he first truly came back for the Aces, he was on minutes restriction.
But during one game where Alaska picked up a nice win, Manuel showed glimpses of the old Muscle Man and his production looked great.
However, that also meant he ended up playing far longer than he's supposed to. It the end though, it was all good. Manuel was just happy to be back on the court again and the victory made it all the more worth it too.
