"We've tried to contact him a couple of times. I've tried to contact him. He hasn't responded," Time Cone said on Coaches Unfiltered about Greg Slaughter.
Following a 2019 PBA Governors' Cup championship with Barangay Ginebra, Greg Slaughter made a shocking move when he decided to take a sabbatical from basketball.
The former no. 1 pick made the announcement back in February, putting a dent in the Gin Kings' upcoming Philippine Cup campaign.
In the immediate aftermath, Ginebra coach Tim Cone believed that Slaughter would return to the team eventually.
However, in the recent months, with everything on lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, communication between Ginebra and Slaughter has been limited.
"We've tried to contact him a couple of times. I've tried to contact him. He hasn't responded," Cone said on Coaches Unfiltered.
"We don't know if he's gonna come back. We do know, just like everybody else, that he's working out," he added.
Slaughter does share workout videos from time to time on his social media accounts.
In fact, one of his earlier appearances following his break from Ginebra was with former teammate Chris Ellis, who disappeared from the PBA following his trade away from the Gin Kings.
According to Coach Tim, his most recent information on Slaughter is that the 7'0" center will try his luck to make the NBA G League.
"Last we heard is that he's gonna make a tryout with the NBA G League," Cone said.
"I don't know if that's true or not. We heard that from a third party. But there's no G League, there won't be a G League until next year," he added.
