Army rallies past IEM to open PVL men's play
Down two sets to one, Army rallied against the Phoenix Volley Masters to secure a close 25-19, 23-25, 20-25, 25-21, 16-14 decision, earning their first win in the new tournament.

What a first impression for the Philippine Army.

The Troopers opened the Premier Volleyball League men's division with a come-from-behind five-set victory over IEM Sunday at the San Juan Arena.

Down two sets to one, Army rallied against the Phoenix Volley Masters to secure a close 25-19, 23-25, 20-25, 25-21, 16-14 decision, earning their first win in the new tournament.

Five players scored in double figures for Army in the marathon match led by team captain Benjaylo Labide's 19 points.

Jayvee Sumagaysay scored 14 while Anthony Arbasto and Romnick Rico added 12 and 11 points respectively.

FEU's Greg Dolor led IEM with 17 points but it was not enough to score an upset against Army.

Joeward Presnede added 14 for the Volley Masters.
