The Power Smashers just sent a powerful message to the rest of the PVL after a three-set demolition of Pocari Sweat.
The Power Smashers just issued a major statement to the rest of the field in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.
Up against a loaded Pocari Sweat, the Power Smashers scored a stunning three-set upset against the Lady Warriors Sunday at the San Juan Arena.
Riding the momentum of an incredible opening salvo, the Power Smashers cruised to a 25-9, 25-22, 25-21, win against Pocari to jumpstart its campaign in the new PVL.
Nes Pamilar's team wasted little time in setting the tone of the contest against the Lady Warriors as the Power Smashers jumped to a relatively easy victory in the opening set.
Pocari, bannered by former collegiate stars, settled down in the second and third sets but failed to break the momentum of the Power Smashers.
"Nakining lang yung mga player ko na magtulung-tulong," Pamilar said.
"Sabi ko nga, medyo maiksi ang preparation tapos wala yung import namin so kailangan lagi magtulung-tulong. Yun naman din ang advice ko sa kanila, kahit makalaro ang import, kailangan mag-contribute. Mas ipakita nila na kaya nila maglaro," he added.
True enough, three players scored in double figures to anchor the Power Smashers' offense led by 12 points from Regine Arocha.
Team captain Jovelyn Prado added 11 while UST standout Dimdim Pacres was good for 10 points in a starting role.
As for Pocari, a team expected to make a run for the first PVL championship, Jeanette Panaga scored 12 points while Myla Pablo came through for 10 markers.
