They came in like a wrecking ball.

Sta. Elena erased a two-set deficit to stun Cafe Lupe Tuesday at the San Juan Arena, opening their Premier Volleyball League campaign with a bag.

The Wrecking Balls scored a pulsating 21-25, 20-25, 25-14, 25-18, 15-12 win over the Sunrisers to join Army for the early lead in the PVL men's division.

Team captain Berlin Paglinawan and Isaah Arda added 11 apiece for the Wrecking Balls.

"Ganun talaga pag first game, kahit sino kalaban natatalo kami. At least this time, nang matapos yung laro, pabor na sa amin," head coach Arnold Laniog said.

"Nung nakuha namin yung third and fourth [set], naging kampante na ako nun. Kanina umiiskor yung kalaban, focused pa rin yung mga players hindi tular nung first two sets," he added.

As for Cafe Lupe, Jahir Ebrahim led the Sunrisers with 17 points while Kevin Liberato and Joshua Barrica came through with 10 apiece.
