Wala sa age ‘yan -- veteran Creamline hitter Remulla
Even if matagal ka ng hindi naglalaro basta nandoon ang puso mo kaya mo pa rin naman basta gusto mo -- Ivy Remulla (no. 7)

Evergreen Ivy Remulla of Creamline proved that volleyball runs deep in her veins.

Not even father time can take away her passion for the sport.

At the age of 37, the former De La Salle University standout still has game to contribute to the Cool Smashers composed of a new generation of stars.

Her experience, leadership and consistency from the service line proved to be an asset for Creamline.

Remulla starred alongside superstar Alyssa Valdez Thursday when the Cool Smashers barged in the win column via straight sets, 25-23, 25-16, 25-22, demolition of Philippine Air Force in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Remulla finished with 10 points behind Valdez’s 21. Her four aces including the go-ahead service winner in the first set where Creamline trailed by as much as eight became the turning point of the match.

Her hard work was appreciated even by the younger set of fans.

“Happy kasi because at least may nakakaka-appreciate (sa akin)” she said.

“Kasi para sa akin naman I want to send a message across na kumbaga wala sa age ‘yan,” she added. “Na even if matagal ka ng hindi naglalaro basta nandoon ang puso mo kaya mo pa rin naman basta gusto mo.”

But Remulla, who won the UAAP crown during her second year in DLSU back in Season 62, admitted that playing with a young crack team could be quite a challenge.

“Actually medyo may konting pressure di ba kasi kailangan sabayan mo ‘yung mga younger ones?” said Remulla, who played in a different league last year. “Pero feeling ko kasi kahit na nag-rest ako for a while after ng huling tournament ko in between I made it a point na nakakapaglaro pa rin ako so sobrang hindi totally back to zero.”

“Kailangan lang medyo mag-double time kasi nagwo-work din ako at the same time,” added Remulla, a hotel training manager. “Ang kalaban ko ay pagod pero its all in the mind lang.”

“Kasi kung gusto mo naman ang ginagawa mo hindi ganoon kahirap, push lang. Office hours naman ako luckily pero puno ang araw ko sobrang everyday. Ten hours ang work, tapos training after work tapos bibiyahe after work so medyo toxic.”

Valdez admired Remulla’s dedication and passion for the game.

“S Ate Ivy super veteran talaga and the presence of her inside the court really is a big deal sa team and really helped the team to go up. And really boosts the confidence namin as a team,” said Valdez.

“Masasabi mo talaga na ngayon age doesn’t matter,” she added. “And hindi naman halata na ganoon ang age ni Ate Ivy. We’re all thankful na nakasama namin siya dahil hindi lang inside the court ang naitutulong niya but also outside. Lahat ng pinagdaanan niya nasi-share niya sa amin and she’s an inspiration for us.”
