TIES THAT BIND. Six former Lady Eagles (seven, including Ella De Jesus) are part of Perlas in the PVL.
Perlas gutted out a tough five-set triumph over the very game Power Smashers on Saturday.
Their match began at 4:00 PM, but went on for more than two hours inside the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Yes, it really took that long. Just see the set scores: 29-31, 24-26, 25-19, 25-23, 21-19.
Right after their comeback win, Amy Ahomiro and many of her teammates immediately went inside the press room.
However, it wasn’t for any post-win interview.
Instead, it was to catch on TV Ateneo de Manila University which was locked in the tough five-setter of its own against archrival De La Salle University.
With every spike by the current Lady Eagles at the Araneta Coliseum, Ahomiro, Kara Acevedo, Jem Ferrer, Dzi Gervacio, Mae Tajima, as well as team manager Charo Soriano shouted and shrieked.
And there was more than a chance those shouts and shrieks from San Juan could have been heard in Quezon City.
In the end, Ateneo fell to now back-to-back champion De La Salle University.
And in the end, only one word came out of the former Lady Eagles inside the press room of the Filoil Flying V Centre: “Sayang.”
