Spikers, Power Smashers battle for rebound win
Perlas looks to bounce back from a setback.

Perlas and the Power Smashers square off Saturday to get back on the winning track in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Game time is at 4:00 p.m. and will air via livestream.

After a four-set win over crowd-favorite Creamline last week in the season opener, the Spikers absorbed a 24-26, 21-25, 25-23, 25-19, 13-15, defeat at the hands of Philippine Air Force last Tuesday.

Perlas is in a three-way tie at 1-1 win-loss slate with the Cool Smashers and the Power Smashers.

Dzi Gervacio, Kathy Bersola and Amy Ahomiro are expected to deliver big numbers to help the Spikers’ cause.

However, Perlas is sure to get a tough challenge against a very young and hungry Power Smashers side.

Composed of key players from NCAA champion Arellano University and San Sebastian College, the Power Smashers shocked the multi-titled Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors in straight sets to open their campaign.

But the Power Smashers failed to capitalize on their momentum as they fell victim to the unbeaten and streaking BaliPure Purest Water Defenders, 25-17, 24-26, 23-25, 22-25, last Tuesday.

The Power Smashers will bank on hitters Jovielyn Prado, Regine Arocha, Andrea Marzan, Katherine Villegas and University of Sto. Tomas standout Dimdim Pacres to recover from their loss in the previous game.

Meanwhile, Philippine Army (1-0) guns for back-to-back victories when the Troopers take on Café Lupe (0-1) at 9:00 a.m.
