Power Smashers look to ground Jet Spikers anew
The Power Smashers eye their second straight win in a clash with slumping Philippine Air Force.

The Power Smashers hope to end the first round of eliminations on a high note in a clash with a skidding Philippine Air Force side Thursday in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Game time is at 4:00 p.m. and will air via livestream.

Behind the big numbers coming from Arellano University teammates Regine Arocha and Jovielyn Prado, the Power Smashers halted a two-game slide with a huge win against the Alyssa Valdez-led Creamline last Tuesday.

The duo, who led the Lady Chiefs into the NCAA throne, combined for 34 points to outlast the Cool Smashers, 25-23, 21-25, 25-17, 20-25, 15-13. The Power Smashers joined Pocari Sweat and Perlas Pilipinas at second to fourth spot with 2-2 win-loss slate behind unbeaten BaliPure (3-0).

The Power Smashers are looking spark a winning run heading into the second round where their Thai imports Kannika Tipachot and Hyapa Amporn are both expected to see action.

But the Power Smashers will have to play their A-game against seasoned opponents in the Jet Spikers.

Air Force suffered two straight losses to slide down the cellar with 1-3 card.

The Jet Spikers are coming off a 22-25, 14-25, 22-25, defeat at the hands of Pocari Sweat last Saturday.

Veterans Jocemer Tapic, May Ann Pantino, Joy Cases and Iari Yongco need to squeeze out more production to help Air Force get back on the winning track.

Meanwhile, Sta. Elena (2-0) looks to keep a tight hold of the lead against winless Instituto Estetico Manila (0-2) in the men’s division slated at 1:00 p.m.
