Creamline arrests a two-game slide with a thrilling five-set win over Philippine Air Force.
Creamline top hitter Alyssa Valdez played through an injured right foot to rally the Cool Smashers to a tight 25-21, 28-26, 23-25, 12-25, 15-12, win over Philippine Air Force that halted their two-game slide Saturday in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Valdez broke the fifth set's last deadlock at 9-9 with back-to-back attacks before sealing the match with a crosscourt hit despite limping because of a foot injury she sustained in an awkward landing late in the fourth set.
The Cool Smashers improved their record to 2-3 after a repeat win against the same opponent they have beaten in straight sets in their first meeting.
Valdez finished with 25 points anchored on 23 kills while adding 18 digs for Creamline. Pau Soriano scored 13 points, Francesca Racraquin had 11 while Ivy Remulla posted 10 markers for the Cool Smashers, who pulled off the victory despite giving away 46 points off their errors.
Air Force dropped its fourth straight game for a 1-5 slate.
Joy Cases finished with 21 points while Jocemer Tapic got 14 for the Jet Spikers.
