Ismail, Abdilla star in Jet Spikers sweep of Troopers

Ranran Abdilla of Philippine Air Force pounded 17 points in the Jet Spikers sweep of Philippine Army.
Philippine Air Force banked on youthful Fauzi Ismail and veteran hitter Ranran Abdilla to turn back Philippine Army in straight sets, 25-22, 25-20, 27-25, Thursday in the men's division of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
National University standout Ismail hammered 18 points including 16 coming off spikes to lead the Jet Spikers to their second straight win in three games and a tie with idle Sta. Elena. Ismail also played big on the defensive end with eight excellent receptions.
Abdilla scored 17 from 13 kills, a pair of aces and a kill block for Air Force. Jeffret Malabanan and Nino Jeruz combined for 14 markers.
Army dropped its second straight game after a hot start and slid to 2-2 card.
Former University of Sto. Tomas star Romnick Rico led the Troopers with 12 points while Lemuel Arbastro and John Ian Depamaylo combined for 14 markers.
