Inck tows Perlas to back-to-back wins
Brazilian import Rupia Inck dropped 19 points in Perlas' straight sets win over the Power Smashers.

Brazilian import Rupia Inck starred for Perlas as the Spikers scored their first back-to-back wins in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at the expense of the skidding Power Smashers, 27-25, 26-24, 25-19, Saturday.

Inck led all scorers with 19 points anchored on 14 kills, three kill blocks and a pair of aces in her debut for the Spikers, who improved their record to 5-3.

Perlas team captain Dzi Gervacio finished with 11 points while Suzanne Roces added nine. Japanese reinforcement Naoko Hashimoto also saw action for Perlas for the first time and tallied 25 excellent sets she spiked with six points for the Spikers.

“Laking tulong din (ni Rupia) kasi we needed a strong outside hitter then who could help us saka setter din. We needed a taller setter din eh. Previously 'yung adjustment namin kapag si (Jem) Ferrer ang setter we have to look out for the balls that passes through her,” said Gervacio.

The win was Perlas’ second straight sets victory after sweeping Air Force last Thursday.

“Nakabawi kami dun sa mga five-setter wins namin, tapos three sets it’s really good for us din,” said Gervacio, whose squad opted to sit Inck and Hashimoto in their previous game despite receiving their International Transfer Certificates.

Perlas wil take on BaliPure on Sunday.

The Power Smashers dropped their fourth match in seven outings.

Thai imports Kannika Tipachot and Hyapa Amporn suited up for the Power Smashers for the first time but failed to save the squad from absorbing their second straight defeat.

Tipachot scored 16 points while Amporn got 13 markers for the Power Smashers. Jovielyn Prado had eight.
