Cool Smashers submit Perlas in four sets
Creamline closed the preliminary round on a high note heading into the quarterfinals.

Creamline dragged Perlas into the quarterfinals with a 25-19, 25-20, 23-25, 25-14, win Thursday night to close their inaugural Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference preliminary round campaign on a high note at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Cool Smashers snapped a two-game slide for 4-6 win-loss slate to build momentum heading into the quarterfinals where they will meet Perlas, Pocari Sweat and Philippine Air Force in a round robin format where the last two semifinals berths are at stake.

Creamline’s win also gave the Power Smashers the last outright best-of-three semis berth to join league-leading BaliPure (7-3). The Power Smashers tied Pocari Sweat at second to third spots with 6-4 slate but claimed the automatic semis seat ticket via superior point ratio.

Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin, American reinforcement Laura Schaudt and top local hitter Alyssa Valdez led Creamline’s offensive burst to hand the Spikers their second straight loss.

Valdez started in all sets and posted 20 points with 17 coming off attacks while Kaewpin and Schaudt scored 17 and 16 markers, rspectively, for the Cool Smashers.

Perlas slid to 5-5 slate.

Brazilian import Rupia Inck scored 20 points while Amy Ahomiro got 11 markers for the Spikers. Perlas skipper Dzi Gervacio was under the weather and skipped action but was on the bench.
