Jet Spikers claim semis top spot
Philippine Air Force will enter the semis as top seed.
Philippine Air Force secured the top spot in the semifinals after a straight sets demolition of hapless Café Lupe, 25-16, 25-22, 25-19, Thursday at the close of the elimination round of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference men’s division at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Jets Spikers, winners of the last Spikers' Turf Open and Reinforced conferences, were able to rotate their whole roster during the rout as they prepare for the best-of-three semifinals against the team that will end up the no. 4 spot after the elims.
Air Force finished the round with a 4-1 win-loss record and a four-game winning streak after starting its campaign on a sour note in a straight sets loss to Sta. Elena.
Bryan Bagunas led the Jet Spikers with 16 points coming off 13 kills, a pair of aces and a kill block. Kim Malabunga scored nine while Ranran Abdilla and Fauzi Ismail combined for 14 markers for Air Force.
The Sunrisers had a disappointing campaign, losing all of their five outings.
Joshua Barrica had nine points while Manuel Doliente finished with seven for Café Lupe.
