Perlas will try to secure an outright semifinals berth in face off with Creamline.
Perlas shoots for the last outright semifinals berth when the Spikers take on Creamline at the close of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference preliminary round Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The 6:00 p.m. match will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
Perlas is tied with the Power Smashers at third to fourth spots with identical 5-4 win-loss records. The Spikers can follow BaliPure (7-2) in the best-of-three semifinals outright with a win coupled by straight or four sets losses of Pocari Sweat (6-3) and the Power Smashers.
Brazilian import Rupia Inck, Japanese setter Naoko Hashimoto, Dzi Gervacio, Amy Ahomiro and Kathy Bersola will try to bring the Spikers back in the win column after a five-set loss to BaliPure last Saturday.
Perlas defeated the Cool Smashers in four sets in their tournament opener last April 30.
Creamline is coming off a sorry five-set loss to the Water Defenders last Tuesday, the Cool Smashers second straight, and is holding a 3-6 card.
The Cool Smashers, bannered by Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin, American Laura Schaudt, Alyssa Valdez, Pau Soriano and Jema Galanza, are just looking to build confidence heading into the round robin quarterfinals where the last two semifinals berths are at stake.
Meanwhile, Philippine Air Force (3-1) shoots to secure the semifinals top spot against winless Café Lupe (0-4) in the men’s division at 10:00 a.m.
