Pocari Sweat clinched the third seed in the semifinals.
Pocari Sweat forged a best-of-three semifinals showdown with the second seed Power Smashers in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Lady Warriors showed an all-around team effort to silence the Perlas Spikers, 25-23, 25-15, 25-18, and complete a sweep of the round robin quarterfinals.
American import Michelle Strizak, Cai Nepomuceno and local sensation Myla Pablo led Pocari Sweat to a 3-0 quarters outing as the Lady Warriors built a huge momentum heading into the semis series starting Saturday.
Strizak scored all but one of her 17 points off attacks while Nepomuceno had 12 markers coming from an all-around offensive outing of six kills, four kill blocks and a pair of service aces for Pocari Sweat. Pablo scored eight for the Lady Warriors, who defeated Perlas in all of their three meetings in the tournament.
“Kahapon pa naman sinabi ko sa kanila na we've beaten the Perlas team twice already, so we know how they play. Nadagdagan lang sila ng dalawang imports, so minor adjustments lang ang ginawa namin kagabi,” said Pocari Sweat coach Rommel Abella. “I told the ladies just to enjoy the game kasi mas maganda ang laro nila pag naka-smile lang sila, nage-enjoy.”
Creamline and top seed BaliPure meet in the other Final Four pairing.
Perlas joined Philippine Air Force in the exit door.
Brazilian import Rupia Inck finished with 14 points while skipper Dzi Gervacio had seven for the Spikers.
