BaliPure will again lean on Grethcel Soltones for another title shot.
BaliPure and the Power Smashers cross paths on Sunday in an early clash of title contenders in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Game time is at 6:30 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
Inspired by their runner up finish in the Reinforced Conference, the Water Defenders are going all-out for another shot at the throne.
BaliPure head coach Roger Gorayeb is optimistic of his team’s chance of making a return trip to the championship. The Water Defenders fell just two set wins short of winning the crown in the previous tournament in the deciding match of the best-of-three series against Pocari Sweat.
“Oo naman kasi lumabas na ang potential nila eh. Tingnan natin kasi if you base it sa performance namin noong start ng last conference all-Filipino lang, pero wala kaming talo nun, 4-0 kami nun,” said Gorayeb. “Sana medyo lumaban pa lalo.”
Back for another tour of duty for BaliPure are Grethcel Soltones, Jerrili Malabanan, Risa Sato, top setter Jasmine Nabor and libero Lizlee Ann Gata-Pantone.
But the Water Defenders will have a tough time against the Power Smashers.
The Nes Pamilar-coached squad retained its core from the previous conference with Dimdim Pacres, Jovielyn Prado, Regine Arocha, Andrea Marzan and libero Eunice Galang while Wenneth Eulalio was tapped to beef up the team.
