Creamline battles BaliPure in a rematch of the Reinforced Conference semifinals.
Powerhouse teams Creamline and BaliPure collide in a marquee match in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Open Conference Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The early rematch of the two squads that figured in the semifinals of the Reinforced Conference is set at 6:30 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
A beefed up Cool Smashers side defeated the feisty Adamson University Lady Falcons, 25-17, 18-25, 25-15, 25-22, last Saturday while the Water Defenders, the import-laden tournament runner-ups, outlasted the Power Smashers, 25-15, 22-25, 20-25, 25-19, 15-6, last Sunday.
Creamline and BaliPure are tied with other opening day winners Philippine Air Force and Pocari Sweat.
Highlight of the match will be the faceoff between the Cool Smashers’ Alyssa Valdez and setter Jia Morado and the Water Defenders pair of Grethcel Soltones and playmaker Jasmine Nabor.
Valdez, the Reinforced Conference Most Valuable Player, led Creamline in their tournament opener with 18 points while Morado dished out 36 excellent sets and added six markers in her return to action since ‘graduating’ from her services with the Ateneo de Manila Lady Eagles two months ago.
Soltones dropped 22 markers and added 23 excellent receptions and 13 digs in an all-around performance for the former V-League Open Conference MVP. Reinforced Conference Best Setter winner Nabor also had an impressive debut with 57 excellent sets on top of her eight markers for the Water Defenders.
Valdez and Morado will have Rosemarie Vargas, Pau Soriano and Rizza Mandapat as backup against BaliPure, which will also rely on hitters Risa Sato, Jerrili Malabanan and Aiko Urdas.
