Pocari Sweat aims for back-to-back wins.
Fresh from its conquest of University of the Philippines, powerhouse team Pocari Sweat looks to start a winning run when the Lady Warriors take on Banko-Perlas in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Open Conference Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Myla Pablo waxed hot and pumped in 18 points to lead the Reinforced Conference champion Lady Warriors past the Lady Maroons, 21-25, 25-20, 25-18, 25-21, last Sunday.
Pocari Sweat, which seeks a fourth straight title, will again lean on the Reinforced Conference Finals Most Valuable Player together with Elaine Kasilag, Cai Nepomuceno, Jeannette Panaga and Desiree Dadang in the 4:00 p.m. duel.
The match will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.
“Napanood ko yung Perlas sa first game nila. So ang kailangan ko lang gawin talaga ay ma-develop ang first ball namin,” said Pocari Sweat mentor Rico De Guzman. “Sa atake wala akong problema eh.”
The Spikers, meanwhile, struggled in their debut as Banko-Perlas dropped a 23-25, 25-9, 20-25, 20-25, decision last Saturday against Philippine Air Force.
Sasa Devanadera and Amanda Villanueva combined for 18 points in the Spikers’ first outing. The squad obviously felt the absence of key players Kathy Bersola and Nicole Tiamzon, who were both on vacation.
