Mega Builders stays unbeaten, Air Force back in win column

Mega Builders kept its unbeaten record intact and moved closer to a Final Four spot after walloping Instituto Estetico Manila, 25-14, 25-20, 25-19, Saturday in the men’s division of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Volley Bolt captured their fourth win in as many outings for the solo lead.
“Masaya ako sa performance namin and nagawa namin yung mga pinag-ensayuhan namin,” said Mega Builders coach Dong Dela Cruz. “At least may chance na kami sa top four.”
Skipper Francis Saura showed the way for the Volley Bolt with 14 points anchored on 12 attacks while national team member Bryan Bagunas and Fauzi Ismail scored 13 and 12 markers, respectively.
The Phoenix Volley Masters dropped to 2-2 card at fourth spot.
Mark Enciso had 11 points while Kurl Roste added eight for IEM, which allowed the National University-backed Mega Builders to penetrate 42 attack points.
Meanwhile, Philippine Air Force returned in the win column, bouncing back from a first set deficit to eke out a 24-26, 25-18, 25-15, 25-20, win over listless Café Lupe.
The Jet Spikers improved to 3-1 slate and sent the Sunrisers to their fourth setback in as many outings.
Edwin Tolentino pumped in 17 points, national team member Alnakran Abdilla had 16 while Rudolfo Labrador got 11 for Air Force, which bounced back from a 20-25, 25-23, 25-17, 22-25, 14-16, loss it absorbed against Philippine Army last week that snapped the Jet Spikers’ two-game winning start.
Café Lupe got 13 points from John Millete while Julius Sioson chipped in 11 in a lost cause.
