LOUD AND CLEAR.
Thus far in the 2017 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference, the picture has been crystal clear that Cignal remains one of the contenders.
At the same time, newcomer Gamboa Coffee Mix is yet to wake up and get up in the tournament.
Those statements didn’t change on Sunday at the Filoil Flying V Centre as Cignal blasted and blanked Gamboa, 25-11, 25-15, and 25-18.
Only Lorenzo Capate was in double-digits, but a total of 11 players contributed at least two points for head coach Oliver Almadro.
The HD Spikers put up an impenetrable wall all throughout the match and recorded 10 blocks compared to only two by their opponents.
With the dominant sweep, the HD Spikers moved into a share of the top spot with also 4-0 Mega Builders.
On the other hand, rookie team Coffee Spikers suffered their fourth setback in as many games.
Meanwhile, Sta. Elena proved steadier and put down Army in four sets, 25-15, 22-25, 25-21, and 25-23 to break off the tie in the standings between the two teams.
Isaah Arda and Berlin Paglinawan fired 16 and 15 points, respectively, to show the way for the now 2-2 Wrecking Balls.
Paglinawan got all of his points from spikes and powered his team through each and every threat posed by the Troopers.
Benjaydo Labide was the lone bright spot for now 1-3 Army with his 16 points.
