Jet Spikers target third win in a row, semis seat playoff
Philippine Air Force is out to boost its chances of advancing in the next round against a Power Smashers side looking to avoid elimination.

Air Force guns for a third straight win and secure at least a playoff for semifinals spot against the Power Smasher in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League on Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The Jet Spikers are tied with Pocari Sweat with 3-1 win-loss record at third to fourth spot.

Air Force hopes to ride the crest of its back-to-back wins when it marches into the 4:00 p.m. battle that will air live over ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.

Behind the 17 points of veteran Jocemer Tapic and the combined 32 markers of Dell Palomata and Iari Yongco, the Jet Spikers outlasted BaliPure, 23-25, 25-21, 25-19, 18-25, 15-11, last Sunday.

A win by the Jet Spikers will boot the Power Smashers out of contention for the remaining three best-of-three semifinals berths. Unbeaten Creamline secured the first Final Four spot.

The Power Smashers are at sixth spot with a 1-4 slate. They must sweep all their remaining games for at least a playoff for the last semis seat.

The Power Smashers absorbed a straight-set, 25-22, 25-21, 25-22, beating at the hands of the Cool Smashers last Wednesday.

Regine Arocha, Dimdim Pacres and Jovielyn Prado must step up to save the Power Smashers from an early exit.
