DELIVER US. Myla Pablo, of course, showed Pocari Sweat the way to the playoffs.
As always, needing a point to put away pesky Philippine Air Force on Thursday at the Filoil Flying V Centre, Pocari Sweat went to Myla Pablo.
And as always, the frontrunner for MVP did nothing but deliver.
Pablo hammered the final nail in the coffin of the Lady Jet Spikers and handed a straight sets win for the Lady Warriors, 25-19- 25-20, and 29-27.
Coming out on top in the duel between contenders, last conference’s champions have now assured themselves of a place in the next round of the 2017 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.
After having no problems taking the first two sets, Pocari Sweat was finally challenged and Air Force was even at set point, 25-24.
The MVP frontrunner was having none of it, however, and scored three points to bring her team onto a tied tally at 27-all.
Following an error by the Lady Jet Spikers, Pablo put an end to the match once and for all with a perfectly placed cross-court kill.
The Lady Warriors’ top hitter wound up with 19 points, all but two coming from spikes, to lead their rise to a 5-1 standing.
Elaine Kasilag and Jeanette Panaga contributed 11 points each while Kai Nepomuceno also added 10 markers to help their team join league-leading Creamline in the playoffs.
Head coach Sgt. Rico de Guzman, though, still wants to see much more killer instinct from his girls. “Kailangan ko pang maging aggressive sila. Lalo na sa floor defense, dapat first ball, ayokong takot sila mag-receive,” he said.
On the other hand, Air Force will have to try again next time to book their own playoff ticket. They see their two-game winning run get stopped and now stand at 4-2.
Dell Palomata and Iari Yongco topped the scoring column for them with eight points apiece as no one was in double-digits.
