Power Smashers, Lady Maroons look to end on a high note
The Power Smashers hope to close their campaign on a high note after a disappointing run that booted them out of semifinals berth contention.

Also-ran teams University of the Philippines and the Power Smashers clash in a battle to end their respective campaigns in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Open Conference on a high note Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The battle begins at 4:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166 and via livestream.

Both teams parade a 1-5 win-loss slates in a three-way tie at sixth to eight spots with Adamson University.  

The Power Smashers came into the conference as one of the top title contenders after a fourth place finish in the Reinforced Conference, but the Nes Pamilar-mentored squad struggled early on and never recovered.

The Power Smashers are on a two-game skid with their last setback coming at the hands of Philippine Air Force in a sorry, 22-25, 24-26, 25-18, 25-17, 13-15, last week.

UP is also down with back-to-back losses.

The Lady Maroons bowed down to Creamline, 25-19, 25-18, 18-25, 17-25, 14-16, a week ago.
