Sta. Elena guns for a playoff for the last semis berth.
Sta. Elena shoots for a playoff for the no. 4 and last semifinals berth in a showdown with winless Café Lupe Sunday in the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Open Conference men’s division at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Game time is at 1:00 p.m. and will air via livestream.
The Wrecking Balls hold a 3-3 win-loss record just behind the current fourth placed team Philippine Army (4-3).
A win by Sta. Elena will set the Wrecking Balls to a playoff match against the Troopers on Wednesday for the right to join the Mega Builders, Cignal and Philippine Air Force in the best-of-three semifinals.
Sta. Elena defeated Gamboa Coffee, 25-19, 25-16, 25-20, last Wednesday.
But the Wrecking Balls can’t take the Sunrisers lightly.
Café Lupe is looking to spoil the Wrecking Balls' party despite losing all its first six games.
Meanwhile, Cignal looks to end its elims campaign on a high note.
Already assured of a spot in the semis, the HD Spikers face the also-ran Instituto Estetico Manila at 10:00 a.m.
Cignal, which defeated Air Force in straight sets last week, sports a 5-1 slate while IEM holds a 2-4 mark.
